Shipping to Trinidad and Tobago from the UK with Waypoint

Waypoint ships barrels, boxes, pallets and personal effects from Southampton to Port of Spain, Trinidad. Whether you’re sending a Christmas barrel to family in San Fernando or Arima, supplies to Chaguanas, or your household goods for a move home, you deal with one Southampton team from booking to arrival. Every sailing on this page shows its cargo closing date, so you know how long you have to pack.

How it works

  1. Pick a sailing below and check the price for your barrels or boxes.
  2. Book online, call us or message us on WhatsApp to secure your space.
  3. Pack and label your cargo, then get it to us before the closing date. We sell empty barrels and boxes if you need them.
  4. Track your shipment until it reaches Port of Spain.

Collecting in Port of Spain

Your cargo is cleared through the Customs and Excise Division in Port of Spain. We’ll let you know when the vessel is in and what the person collecting needs to bring. Keep your booking reference and a list of what’s in each barrel, with rough values, to hand. It makes clearance quicker.

Christmas barrels to Trinidad

Trinidad and Tobago doesn’t run a Christmas barrel concession, so barrels pay the usual duty and VAT on their contents all year round. December is our busiest month, so book early to get your barrel there for Christmas, and follow our WhatsApp updates for closing-date reminders.

Moving home for good? Citizens, former citizens and their spouses aged 18 or over who have lived abroad for at least five consecutive years can bring in household effects they’ve owned and used for a year or more free of duty and VAT, up to TT$100,000. Your goods should arrive within two months either side of your return. One vehicle can come in with reduced duty, depending on how long you’ve owned it. Apply in writing to the Comptroller of Customs through a customs broker, with a sworn affidavit and proof of overseas residence. Ask us about a container for a full move.

What can I send?

Most household goods, food, clothing and gifts travel well in barrels and boxes. For Christmas cut-offs, see our Christmas shipping guide. We also handle vehicle shipping and full containers to Trinidad.
